Just realized this is the fourth year anniversary of Just Being Mary!
I have Just Been Mary for a lot longer than that but the decision to write it all down to share with you began four years ago. Almost to the day.
Four years doesn’t seem all that long. But a lot happens in a four-year span.
Rory is finishing her third year of college. Annie is preparing for high school. President reelected. Quit smoking twice. Moved to Malaysia. Syria has been destroyed. Pope is stepping down. Met new friends. Miss old friends. Added a few new wrinkles. Ironed out a few wrinkles. Visited new places. Learned a LOT.
Once I put the pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) I sort of wanted to write down the memories, stories, thoughts, and opinions. If my daughters ever needed a refresher they could just read JBM and say, “Oh, that’s right. That’s the way Mom felt about this particular thing.” Or, “I remember that!”
I won’t ever forget a particular line from the many union/management discussions at work. If it’s not documented it didn’t happen.
Well, I documented it. So it happened. And it all happened the way I said it.
One of my brothers was reading a posting of mine and asked, “Did it really happen like this?”
Yes, yes, it did. I don’t make this stuff up. It’s not fiction. It happened like that.
The gravy from writing this blog was picking up people like YOU along the way. Thank you so much for reading along. Thanks for the comments. And thank you for the support. It’s an absolute thrill. A pleasure. Truly.
I hope to continue pounding away at the keyboard. As they say in American politics, “Four More Years!” And as they say in Texas, “The good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise.”
Thank you all!
Fondly,
Mary
Congratulations!
Thank you!
Hi Mary! I’ve been following your blog for a couple of months now, not sure how I stumbled on it but glad I did. First thing I did was google Malaysia. Oh my, you are sure far from home! Love your posts about it though, and a little jealous that I don’t get to have your adventures. So I’ll live through you and your blog. Happy 4th Birthday!
